Techno2LAP Laboratory
The laboratory of Language Technologies and Applied Linguistics (Techno2LAP) is the operational research unit of the Equipe de Recherche-Développement en Linguistique Appliquée/Research-Development Team in Applied Linguistics (ERDELAP) of the University of Dschang. Created in 2019 and located in the Laboratory block building, room 304, on Campus A of this institution, it is supervised by Professor Kouesso Jean Romain.
Objectives and activities
The Techno2LAP Laboratory has the general objective of developing and mobilising the scientific, technical and strategic resources to support research for linguistic solutions to cultural and socio-economic development in Cameroon, even in Africa.
As specific objectives, it aims at:
- Supporting academic and scientific trainings of students through:
- The production and dissemination of physical and digital teaching and learning resources for African languages and linguistic research.
- The organisation of academic and research training seminars
- The promotion of digital education in African languages
- Scientific and technical support for the production of Master’s thesis and doctoral dissertations
- Initiating and supporting research projects and initiatives and linguistics and socio-economic development through:
- The design, elaboration and realisation of research projects in African languages and linguistics
- Technical and scientific support for the development and realisation of individual or collective research projects
- The organisation and participation in capacity building trainings for language development stakeholders
- The realisation of study orders
- Contributing to the scientific animation and dissemination of good practices in linguistics and Cameroonian and African languages by:
- The organisation and participation in scientific events (dedications, research seminars, conferences, symposia, etc.)
- The publication and diffusion of knowledge and know-how linked to linguistics and to Cameroonian and African languages
- Training on learning and teaching software, as well as language processing and analysis.
